Sara Szostak
Sara Szostak is a Warsaw-based artist, producer and curator affiliated with the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art. She has a degree in art history and attended postgraduate studies in Creative Coding as well as Deep Learning at the Warsaw University of Technology (2023). She also has been a part of the Collective Practices programme at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2021-2022).
With a background in both art and computer science, the core of her work lies at the intersection of these two disciplines. Her research explores the impact of technological advances on the arts, with a particular focus on the incorporation of digital art within established curatorial and institutional frameworks. Her interests include narrative-driven works that explore speculative narratives and engage with notions of spatial and temporal complexity. The use of simulations, live-action role-playing games, interactive experiences and video game-inspired strategies offers an opportunity to engage in speculative and participatory scenarios that facilitate joint reflection on imagined pasts, presents and futures. The underlying theme of Sara's work is a collective contemplation of the role of technology in shaping our future, with a particular attention to sustainability and accessibility, as well as a meta-discussion of art as a vessel for different narratives.
