Placed in passages – spaces of transit – Céline Mathieu's site-(un)specific sound installation reverberates in different locations. Interested in the circulation of sound, goods, and thoughts, existing sound material is repurposed, recontextualized and accompanied by a related object. Repeated like an intimate mantra, the soundwaves of a loose poem are sent into the walls, making them whisper softly spoken words.

Céline Mathieu

Céline Mathieu (b. 1989, Belgium) is an artist and writer. Her site and condition-specific practice considers material and economic circulation in work that evokes a feeling of falling away. The work is both sensory and conceptual.
