With Giuli Dal Lago
>Curated by Laura Callegaro
Through the persona of Lolita, Giuli Dal Lago’s performance gives form to repressed emotions and collective pain shaped by capitalist and socio-cultural norms. A voice for loss and uncomfortable truths, Lolita channels grief and resilience, reflecting queer and feminist perspectives on care, trauma, and the silenced. Unfolding alongside the artist residency at EMS, Stockholm, the project centers care for the artist as a curatorial principle. From supporting Giuli’s EMS residency application to rethinking their website and securing backing from the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) in Stockholm, the focus has been on building a solid operational framework around the artist — providing both practical support and a nurturing context — enabling them to fully dedicate themselves to their work.
Supported by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Stoccolma. Special thanks to EMS.
Giuli Dal Lago
Giuli Dal Lago (they/them) is a London-based sound artist and performer who works at the intersection of sound and performance art. Through an experimental approach to sound, Giuli reclaims the body as a site of political struggle — a space for asserting gender identity and advancing queer rights and liberation. Their practice both fosters emancipation and challenges societal norms around identity, merging personal and political narratives.
Inspired by the queer clubbing scene, Giuli views the body as a dynamic site of sound activation and collective experience.
