Chen Shuyu is a freelance curator based in Sweden since 2017. She has been involved in exhibitions, research projects and publications in art, architecture and design with her critical spatial practice. She is the co-founder of the Institute for Provocation (Beijing, 2009-), an independent art organization combining artistic research and practice by means of displacement and mutual-provocation. In 2017, she established the publishing branch of Institute for Provocation in Sweden to publish art books.
Her recent projects include Our Material Life (Swedish Section, Scene Unseen in the Subtropics, He Xiangning Art Museum, Shenzhen, 2018-2019), Archiving the Spaces of Anxiety: from the Burrow to the Peach Colony (Winning proposal of Research-based Curatorial Project 2019, OCAT Institute, Beijing, 2020-2021), Co-Exist: Contemporary Swedish Design Act in China (Hua Museum of Art & Design, 2020) and Revolution - A Vengeance of an Arrow (in collaboration with Papertiger, Humboldt Forum, Berlin, 2021).
