Love Letters

Drawing on dissident produced literature, Istanbul-based BAÇOY KOOP (Printing, Duplication and Distribution Collective) presented a new performance Sweet Confiscation, as part of the wider project Love Letters. Inspired by Kollontai’s questioning of market based societal norms, Love Lettersoffered a collective critique of mechanisms of power that pervade today’s society. Works by Jeremy Bailey, David 

Horvitz and BAÇOY KOOP subverted modes of contemporary propaganda from different areas of daily life (online marketing, lectures, unsolicited-mail) and replaced their usual seductive intent with generous, poetic acts of resistance. 

Jeremy Bailey’s work The You Museum disrupted the usual intention of online banner advertising, replacing them with works of art on the user’s screen. Visitors were invited to sign up at www.theyoumuseum.org to have their banner adverts replaced by purpose-made works of art. David Horvitz reached out to people by posting printed artworks directly into the homes of people living in the area surrounding Tensta konsthall.
