For his CuratorLab project - Performing the Techno-Imagination - Geddis borrowed the image theory of the late Czech philosopher VilémFlusser, making a performative reading of Flusser’s concept of the ‘Techno Imagination’.

Having originally studied and practiced as an artist, Rowan Geddis has spent the last 10 years working as a curator and producer, supporting and developing art projects on three continents. Geddis is currently Curator of Turner Prize 2019 at Turner Contemporary (UK), overseeing one of the best known prizes for visual arts in the world, alongside a related programme of activity and new artist commissions. Throughout 2018 he was curator of Young London 2018 - a large scale survey show of emerging UK based artists, spanning 5 months of activity across multiple sites. Geddis has previously directed Gasworks (London) prestigious International Residencies Programme (2010-2014) and more recently developed projects in collaboration with Tokyo Arts and Space (Japan), La Ira de Dios (Argentina) and Kiosko (Bolivia). Geddis’ research-based practice focusses on performative strategies within varied art practices, as both a site of development and as an object to stage.
