Curated by Domna Gounari
As her final individual project, Curatorlab participant, Domna Gounari edited a publication in cooperation with the State Museum of Contemporary Art-Costakis collection, Thessaloniki, Greece. As it was the centennial anniversary of the October Revolution 1917, Gounari’s project titled Russian Revolution Revisited, aspired to be show how archive material can be exhibited in alternative formats, beyond classical exhibitions, in this case in the printed form. In the publication, Gounari worked withrare printedmaterial on plays, mass festivals, constructions, photo-montages for book and magazine covers and actual artworks devoted to the propaganda of the October Revolution. The works were presented in chronological order, definingin a way how cooperation between the Soviet regime and Avant-garde artists emerged, developed and was then dramatically altered at the time when Socialist Realism was finally opposed.
