Matilda Kästel (b. 1984) is a material based artist living in Stockholm, Sweden. She mainly works with sculpture in ceramics and glass, but also with social projects and performance. Her work has been shown at galleries in Europe and the US, and is a part of the permanent collections of The National Museum, Sweden and The Glass Museum, Denmark.
Her main curatorial interest is how art can be made available to a broader audience, and the gallery as a democratic place. She is also part of BOOM!, a female separatist glass group, who creates events, exhibitions and publications as well as workshops and seminars. Together with jewelry artist Jenny Edlund she has started the platform Open Craft, where they both make collaborative work and create arenas for showing material based art.
